CIA Agent Exposes 'Pig Butchering' Crypto Scams
CIA agent Charles Finfrock has shed light on the mechanics behind modern crypto fraud, including romance scams and high-pressure investment schemes known as 'pig butchering.'
Finfrock explained that scammers build trust online by using fake trading platforms that resemble well-known exchanges like E-Trade, Vanguard, or Coinbase.
They 'fatten up' victims with small fake profits before draining their savings, retirement accounts, and borrowed money.
A Southern California victim lost around $2.3 million in just three months, while a stolen identity was tied to a Bulgarian CrossFit model.
Criminals operating from places like Nigeria, the Philippines, and Eastern Europe use deepfake video calls, adult content, and polished websites to manipulate targets.
