Cipher Digital Sells 470 BTC as It Shifts Focus to AI Data Centers
Cipher Digital, formerly known as Cipher Mining, has continued its pivot from cryptocurrency mining to artificial intelligence infrastructure development by selling approximately 471 BTC. This sale marks a significant step in the company's shift towards high-performance computing and AI data center operations.
The company now holds just 646 BTC, valued at roughly $37.8 million, down from 1,433 BTC at the end of 2025. Cipher rebranded from Cipher Mining to Cipher Digital on February 20, 2026, formally signaling its transition towards AI and HPC workloads.
Cipher has secured long-term contracts with Amazon Web Services and Google among other hyperscale tenants, generating a contracted revenue backlog exceeding $11 billion. The company's BTC holdings demonstrate a systematic capital reallocation, converting volatile digital assets into physical infrastructure with contracted cash flows.
