Cipher Digital Speeds Up Black Pearl Data Center Delivery in Texas
Cipher Digital has accelerated its delivery timeline for the Black Pearl Data Center in West Texas. The company, which listed on NASDAQ under the ticker CIFR, began delivering capacity at the facility in early August, two months earlier than originally planned. This move comes after Cipher amended its lease to meet the needs of a hyperscale tenant.
The Black Pearl campus is covered by a 15-year lease with Amazon Web Services for about 300 megawatts of gross capacity. The site was previously used for Bitcoin mining before Cipher began converting it for high-performance computing workloads. The company stopped mining Bitcoin at the site in February, according to its 2025 annual report.
Cipher also secured an option for a 900 MW site near San Antonio, Texas. Project-level financing has been completed to fully fund the company's expansion pipeline. This development comes as Cipher shares fell 7.7% to $22.29 in premarket trading on Tuesday.
