cirBTC Adoption Lags Despite Strong Institutional Support
Circle's wrapped Bitcoin product, cirBTC, has garnered significant institutional backing, but its circulating supply remains relatively low at just 40.02450077 coins.
This is striking given that WBTC and cbBTC, two other wrapped Bitcoin tokens, have much higher circulating supplies of approximately 2911 times and 2465 times that of cirBTC, respectively.
Circle has equipped cirBTC with segregated reserves, federally regulated custodians, direct minting and redemption channels for qualified enterprises, alongside the mature distribution infrastructure behind USDC.
The company's integrated architecture balances trust endorsement with platform control, but its low adoption rate is a concerning reality. A circulating supply of merely 40 tokens exposes an awkward truth: Circle has built a highly credible, institutional-grade wrapped Bitcoin solution, but it has virtually failed to establish a supporting market ecosystem.
