Circle Abandons Noble Support for USDC and CCTP V1
Circle, the issuer of the $74.31 billion market cap USDC stablecoin, will discontinue support for USDC and the legacy version of its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP V1) on the Noble blockchain by January 2027.
The move is part of Circle's broader migration to CCTP V2, which boasts faster transaction finality and enhanced security. However, Noble will not support the upgraded protocol.
New minting of USDC on Noble via Circle Mint will be disabled starting October 13, 2026, while redemptions will remain available until January 12, 2027, after which USDC on Noble will be fully paused. A manual redemption portal will open on January 13, 2027, for users unable to migrate before the deadline.
Circle's move reflects its ongoing pivot toward next-generation blockchain interoperability and its commitment to Cosmos. However, the exclusion of Noble from this upgrade may signal a strategic realignment of Circle's priorities within the Cosmos ecosystem.
