Circle Acquires Singapore-Based Cross-Border Payments Platform Tazapay
Circle is expanding its global reach with the acquisition of Singapore-based cross-border payments platform Tazapay. The deal, expected to close in 2027, will give Circle a significant boost in serving markets across Asia-Pacific and emerging regions.
Tazapay processes more than $25 billion in annualized payment volume and works with over 60 banking and fintech partners, offering local payout rails covering over 100 markets. The company's transaction volume is comprised of approximately 60% stablecoins, such as USDC.
The acquisition will increase Circle's capabilities to originate and terminate payments globally, near-instant and 24/7, making USDC a more dominant payment rail for cross-border commerce, according to Irfan Ganchi, senior vice president of payments at Circle. Tazapay customers can expect no disruption to their services.
