Circle Acquires Tazapay for $400M to Expand USDC Payments Globally
Circle, a leading fintech and crypto company, has announced its acquisition of Tazapay in an all-stock deal worth $400 million. The agreement, signed on September 4, is subject to regulatory approvals globally and is expected to close in 2027.
Tazapay processes more than $25 billion annually through payout rails spanning over 100 markets worldwide. Circle says that stablecoins already account for approximately 60% of Tazapay's total transaction volume across markets.
The acquisition aims to extend USDC-based payments across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets, leveraging Tazapay's banking connections and local payout infrastructure. Circle plans to grant $25 million in restricted stock units to selected Tazapay employees after completion.
