Circle Acquires Tazapay to Boost Global Stablecoin Adoption
Circle, the issuer of USDC stablecoin, has announced it will acquire Tazapay, a Singapore-headquartered cross-border payments platform. The deal is expected to close in 2027 and will combine Circle's global presence with Tazapay's local payout rails and banking relationships.
Tazapay processes over $25 billion in annualized payment volume and has partnerships with more than 60 banks and fintech companies. Approximately 60% of its transaction volume already includes stablecoins, which is expected to increase USDC adoption worldwide.
The acquisition will accelerate Circle's mission to build the infrastructure layer for global digital finance. According to Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman at Circle, combining USDC with Tazapay's capabilities 'will accelerate worldwide USDC adoption.'
