Circle Acquires Tazapay to Boost USDC Payments Volume
Circle is expanding its USDC stablecoin's reach across global markets through a $400 million all-stock deal to acquire Tazapay, a Singapore-based payments infrastructure company. This acquisition will bring in over $25 billion in annualized payment volume and has the potential to deepen USDC's footprint in Asia, Africa, and other fast-growing regions.
Tazapay currently has 60% of its transactions involving stablecoins, making it an attractive addition to Circle's ecosystem. The deal is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approvals from the Monetary Authority of Singapore among others.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire highlighted that combining USDC with Tazapay's banking network and institutional customer base could accelerate worldwide adoption. He emphasized that stablecoin settlement is becoming core infrastructure in the global economy.
