Circle Boosts Stablecoin Payments with Native USDC on X Layer
Circle has made significant strides in expanding its stablecoin infrastructure by launching native USDC and Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on OKX's X Layer. This integration provides developers, businesses, and over 120 million OKX users with access to a trusted dollar-denominated liquidity source.
The launch of native USDC enables direct redemption and company infrastructure compatibility, addressing the limitations of previously supported bridged versions like USDC.e and USDC_Bridged. These tokens allowed for stablecoin transactions but lacked essential features such as direct redemption and company infrastructure compatibility.
Circle has also introduced its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) via the layer, allowing for secure cross-chain transfers between over 25 supported blockchains without third-party bridges. Unlike typical bridges, CCTP burns tokens from the source blockchain and creates an equal amount of USDC tokens on the destination blockchain.
