Circle Buys Tazapay for $400M, Aims to Dominate Cross-Border Payments
Circle Internet Group has agreed to purchase Tazapay, a Singapore-based cross-border payments company, for approximately $400 million in Circle stock. The deal is expected to close in 2027, pending approval from Singapore's Monetary Authority.
Tazapay processes more than $25 billion annually and has already been working with Circle since June 2025 to convert USDC into local currency. In that time, its volume has grown past Circle's own payments network, which handles around $8.3 billion in annualized transactions.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire believes combining USDC with Tazapay's banking relationships and local payout rails will make the stablecoin the default way businesses settle cross-border payments.
