Circle Buys Tazapay to Bolster Cross-Border Payments
Circle is set to acquire Tazapay, a Singapore-based cross-border payments platform, in a deal expected to close in 2027 pending regulatory approval from Monetary Authority of Singapore.
The acquisition aims to deepen Circle's payments infrastructure reach across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets, with USDC serving as the default rail for cross-border commerce.
Tazapay processes significant volumes, with stablecoins making up roughly 60% of transaction volume. The platform supports over 60 banking and fintech partners, covering more than 100 local payout rails across various markets.
Circle's senior vice president of payments, Irfan Ganchi, described the deal as a meaningful step toward making USDC the default payment rail for cross-border activity.
