Circle's CEO Jeremy Allaire says the cryptocurrency market is shifting from speculation to trading tokenized assets. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $701 million and adjusted EBITDA of $143 million, driven primarily by interest income from its stablecoin USD Coin ($USDC) reserves.

The transition toward tokenization involves representing real-world assets such as stocks, bonds, or commodities on a blockchain. This enables fractional ownership, faster settlement, and 24/7 trading, potentially reducing costs and barriers for investors.

Major financial institutions like BlackRock and Fidelity are exploring tokenized funds and securities. Over 90% of central banks are researching or piloting tokenized assets, according to a Bank for International Settlements report.
