Circle Deploys Native USDC and CCTP on OKX's X Layer
Circle has expanded its USDC stablecoin's presence in the OKX ecosystem by launching native USDC and Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on X Layer, a blockchain within OKX. This integration enables users to access Circle-issued dollars directly on X Layer, reducing reliance on traditional liquidity bridges.
The introduction of native USDC removes a layer of bridge dependence, allowing developers to issue the stablecoin directly on supported blockchains without relying on wrapped versions. This reduces operational friction and improves security by minimizing the need for users to manage separate wrapped tokens.
CCTP enables seamless transfers between supported networks through a burn-and-mint process, eliminating the need for duplicate liquidity pools and reducing bridge-specific custody risk.
X Layer's integration with Circle's infrastructure is significant due to its connection to OKX, one of the world's largest crypto trading user bases. This deepens X Layer's role in payments, DeFi, and cross-chain trading by providing a standardized dollar asset for applications built on the network.
