Circle Ends Noble Support for USDC, Sets Deadline for Migration
Circle, the company behind USDC, has announced that it will be winding down support for USDC on the Noble blockchain. The process will begin on October 13, 2026, with new minting of USDC on Noble through Mint disabled. This is part of Circle's broader Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol upgrade to V2, which aims to provide faster finality and stronger security.
The company stated that it will not receive the newer protocol CCTP V2, and all Noble USDC balances will be snapshot and eligible for redemption on January 13, 2027. Circle has laid out three ways for self-custody USDC holders to exit before the deadline: withdrawing through a centralized exchange, completing a DEX swap, or using a CCTP V1 burn from Noble to a supported chain.
Industry observers suggest that the Noble wind-down signals Circle's tightening focus on chains fully aligned with CCTP V2 infrastructure. Analysts recommend treating the October and January dates as hard cutoffs rather than flexible windows, given Circle's own language regarding the Noble USDC contract pause.
