Circle Expands CCTP for Native EURC Transfers
Circle has expanded its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to support native EURC transfers. This move extends the interoperability service beyond its original focus on USDC, which was introduced earlier.
The first deployment connects EURC on Ethereum and Base through a burn-and-mint model, where tokens are destroyed on the source chain and newly issued on the destination chain. This leaves users with native EURC on the receiving network rather than a wrapped representation issued by an external bridge.
Circle says that this addition allows developers to handle two company-issued stablecoins through one integration without requiring existing CCTP applications to replace their underlying transfer model.
