Circle Expands CCTP to Include EURC, Enhancing Euro-Backed Stablecoin Liquidity

Circle has expanded its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to include EURC, the euro-backed stablecoin issued by Circle Internet Financial Europe SAS. This move aims to streamline crosschain asset transfers and enhance liquidity within the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.

By integrating EURC into CCTP, users can now transfer euro-denominated liquidity natively across supported blockchains, starting with Ethereum and Base. This eliminates the need for fragmented bridge infrastructures or synthetic tokens, offering a unified system for transferring both USDC and EURC.

The burn-and-mint mechanism used in CCTP ensures that the EURC received is native to the destination blockchain, not a wrapped or synthetic version. For developers, this simplifies integration and reduces operational complexity.
