Circle Expands Stablecoin Infrastructure with Local-Currency Conversion and Euro Stablecoin Growth
Circle has expanded its stablecoin infrastructure by adding local-currency conversion for USDC in Circle Mint, supporting eight currencies. The updated service allows businesses and eligible account holders to convert USDC directly into their local currency, removing the need for separate conversion steps or pre-funded accounts.
The new flow works by customers activating cross-currency exchange, linking a bank account for the local-currency side, and registering that account for the currency they intend to trade. Settlement uses local payment rails nearly around the clock where supported, with USDC arriving in the Mint balance after conversion.
This move aims to make USDC more accessible outside dollar- and euro-denominated markets, particularly in Latin America and Asia. Circle's euro stablecoin EURC has also crossed €400 million in circulation, reflecting stronger demand for regulated euro liquidity across crypto and traditional financial workflows.
