Circle Expands USDC Infrastructure with Reserve Verification and Cross-Chain Work
Circle's infrastructure push is expanding the context for USDC (US Dollar Coin), the digital dollar stablecoin. The company has added reserve-verification and cross-chain work to its platform, allowing users to see proof-of-reserves data on assets such as BTC. CirBTC, a wrapped Bitcoin product with live reserve standard on Ethereum, uses Chainlink data for verification.
Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol is extending beyond USDC to support native EURC transfers, placing USDC alongside the euro-denominated stablecoin as part of a common path for moving assets between supported networks. This infrastructure can reduce the need for businesses to manage separate balances on every network but still requires manual checks before treating a transfer as complete.
The company's blog provides product descriptions that explain its plans and releases, rather than serving as independent performance testing. Independent context is provided by the scale of stablecoin use and how exchanges, payment firms, and developers handle settlement across different networks.
