Circle Eyes Global Expansion with Tazapay Acquisition
Circle Internet Group has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based cross-border payments company Tazapay on September 8. The proposed transaction is expected to close in 2027, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Tazapay brings payout rails across 100 markets, handling more than $25 billion in annualized payment volume, working with over 60 banking and fintech partners, and supporting local payouts in more than 100 markets. Approximately 60% of Tazapay's transaction volume already involves stablecoins.
Circle plans to use Tazapay's network to expand where payments can begin and end, particularly across Asia-Pacific and emerging markets, with the goal of near-instant, round-the-clock money movement using USDC as the settlement layer for more cross-border transactions.
