Circle Faces Earnings Pressure as Crypto Market Remains Volatile

Circle, a leading provider of digital financial services, is set to release its earnings before the market opens on August 5. Analysts expect the company's revenue to reach $717 million, up 3.3% quarter-over-quarter, with earnings per share (EPS) of $0.164, down 21.9% from last quarter.

The crypto market has been sluggish over the past six months, with Bitcoin declining from a high of around RMB 97,900 at the beginning of the year to approximately RMB 64,000 recently due to continued volatility. As a result, the market has adopted a conservative outlook, expecting modest revenue growth and earnings pressure.

Circle's primary revenue sources consist of interest income from stablecoin reserves, which accounts for about 94% of total revenue, and platform infrastructure services, making up roughly 6%. The company's reserve income benefits from elevated U.S. Treasury yields, but USDC's circulation may face downward pressure due to subdued trading activity in the crypto market.
