Circle Lands New York Trust Charter for USDC Expansion
Circle Internet Group has made significant strides in its regulatory framework after receiving a limited purpose trust charter from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) for Circle Internet Trust Company LLC. This new entity will operate as Circle New York Trust, expanding the company's reach and reinforcing its commitment to compliance and customer protection.
The approval follows Circle's long-standing relationship with NYDFS, dating back to 2015 when it became the first company to receive a BitLicense. According to Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle, this trust charter has been a key strategic goal for the company as it provides greater regulatory clarity and places USDC within one of the world's most respected digital asset regulatory frameworks.
The milestone marks another step forward in the growth of stablecoin adoption, with USDC gaining broader traction. Circle emphasized its continued commitment to safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance in the face of expanding digital dollar adoption.
