Circle Lands Premier League First With Chelsea Shirt Deal
Circle's stock jumped nearly 5% after announcing a groundbreaking sponsorship deal with Chelsea Football Club, marking the first time a cryptocurrency financial services firm has secured a principal shirt sponsorship with a Premier League club.
The agreement names Circle as Chelsea's Principal Partner and official front-of-shirt sponsor beginning with the 2026/27 season. The branding will appear across the men's, women's, and academy teams, giving USDC visibility across one of football's most recognized global platforms.
Chelsea had reportedly been seeking around £65 million ($88.3 million) per year for the front-of-shirt position, which has sat vacant for three years. Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire framed the partnership as a way to reposition USDC as financial infrastructure rather than just a trading instrument, emphasizing its use case for payments, settlement, and cross-border transfers.
The deal underscores how stablecoin issuers are increasingly seeking legitimacy through partnerships with established consumer brands. Total dollar stablecoin supply stands around $292.2 billion, with USDC holding about 25.3% of that market.
