Circle Revenue Misses Wall Street Expectations as Net Income Surges
Circle's second-quarter revenue fell short of expectations at $701 million, narrowly missing the preliminary Wall Street consensus of $713.32 million.
The company attributed the revenue increase to a 7% rise from last year, driven primarily by a 25% increase in average USDC circulation, which expanded the reserve base generating interest income.
Despite the modest revenue shortfall, Circle's net income from continuing operations reached $48 million, representing a $530 million year-over-year improvement.
The company's results highlight its dependence on USDC circulation and reserve income, with reserve income remaining the primary source of revenue at $668 million, up 5% from last year.
Circle plans to launch the public mainnet of its Arc blockchain on September 16, which has already garnered institutional support from major financial and payment companies such as BlackRock and Visa.
