Circle Scores Big with Chelsea Shirt Sponsorship
Circle, the company behind the USDC stablecoin, has announced a principal partnership with Chelsea Football Club. From the 2026/27 season, Circle's name and branding will appear on the front of the club's shirts, marking a significant move into the world of sports sponsorships.
The deal covers the men's, women's, and academy teams, with neither party disclosing the value or length of the agreement. Reports suggest Chelsea had been seeking £60-65 million per year for the shirt sponsorship slot, but ultimately accepted a reduced offer in the region of £45 million.
Circle's CEO, Jeremy Allaire, said the partnership was a natural fit, given the company's mission to make money work seamlessly across borders. 'We built USDC on the belief that money should work seamlessly for everyone everywhere, the way the internet does,' he stated.
Chelsea's commercial executives are clearly enthusiastic about the deal, with President of Commercial Todd Kline describing it as 'more than a logo on a shirt.' The women's team will also benefit from the partnership, with Circle's branding set to appear on their shirts for the first time this season at Stamford Bridge.
