The recent launch of US Bank's USBDC stablecoin has sparked interest among investors in Circle's (CRCL) stock price. The US Bancorp executed its first successful transaction using the new stablecoin, which ran on the Stellar blockchain and tested key functions across the stablecoin's lifecycle.

Circle's USDC has built a strong position in digital payments, with a circulation of $74.3 billion as of September 7. However, the emergence of USBDC could pressure Circle's valuation over time as traditional lenders seek greater control over digital money and blockchain-based settlement.

The stablecoin market is becoming increasingly competitive, with Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo among institutions pursuing a joint dollar stablecoin initiative. A group of 21 financial institutions plans to create a company for issuing a dollar-pegged stablecoin by the first half of 2027.
