Circle Stock Surges as EURC Stablecoin Hits €400 Million Milestone
Circle's euro stablecoin, EURC, has reached a significant milestone, surpassing €400 million in circulation. This growth is reflected in Circle's stock price, which closed at $74.59 on August 17, up 4.15% or $2.97 from the previous day.
The supply of EURC has increased by more than 100% over the past year, driven by its adoption across various blockchains, exchanges, and payment networks. Circle's expansion strategy has enabled users to access euro-denominated digital money in multiple ways, including on Ethereum, Avalanche, Stellar, Solana, and Base.
Circle's e-money institution in France issues EURC under the Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation (MiCA), which sets rules for stablecoin reserves, governance, disclosures, and redemption. Authorized users can redeem EURC 1:1 for euros, while others can trade it on secondary markets.
