Circle Ups the Ante with Upfront Fee Payments for USDC Cross-Chain Transfers

Circle has introduced an upgrade to its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) that allows for upfront fee payment for USDC transfers. This update simplifies cross-chain transactions and ensures predictable amounts for users.

The enhancement enables fees for CCTP Fast Transfers to be paid in advance using either the source chain's native gas token or USDC. Previously, fees were deducted from the transferred amount on the destination chain, which often led to discrepancies between the sent and received amount of USDC.

This change will now allow users to receive the exact amount of USDC intended, making the process more transparent and reliable for wallets, payment workflows, and decentralized applications.
