Circle's $34.5B Reserve Attestation Shields USDC from Circulation
Circle, the issuer of USDC, has released its latest reserve attestation. The review by Deloitte shows that Circle's reserves stood at $34.5 billion, exceeding the total circulating token supply.
The attestation also reveals that USDC reserves are primarily backed by short-term U.S. Treasury bills and overnight repurchase agreements. This kind of transparency is crucial for stablecoins as users need to trust that tokens can be redeemed and that reserves are managed conservatively.
Circle has long emphasized the importance of transparency and regulatory alignment, and its monthly attestations are part of this strategy. The latest attestation does not guarantee that reserve composition never changes, but it creates accountability by giving users a concrete snapshot of the company's financials.
