Circle's $3B Arc Mainnet Launches on September 16 with Major Institutional Backing
Circle's $3 billion Arc mainnet is set to go live on September 16, marking a significant milestone for the company and the broader crypto industry. The network has been operating privately with over 100 institutional and ecosystem builders since its inception.
The founding validator group is comprised of some of the biggest names in traditional finance, including BlackRock, DTCC, Visa, Mastercard, Intercontinental Exchange, Standard Chartered, Galaxy, MoneyGram, and SBI Group. This lineup gives Arc a unique launch profile, with institutions expected to use the infrastructure also helping secure it.
The network's public mainnet is designed for stablecoin payments, tokenized assets, foreign exchange, and always-on financial markets. It will initially run under a Proof-of-Authority model with permissioned validators, but may eventually transition to Proof-of-Stake or delegated Proof-of-Stake, at which point ARC would become the native coordination asset for governance, security, and network operations.
