Circle's Arc Blockchain Project Set for Public Mainnet Launch on September 16
Circle's blockchain project, Arc, is on track to launch its public mainnet on September 16. The move will open up the production blockchain to users and applications while keeping block production within a permissioned validator set.
The network has already seen significant activity in its private mainnet and test environment, with over half a billion testnet transactions, nearly 3 million wallets, and more than 100 partners active. However, it's worth noting that these counts only reflect activity in a test environment without real assets.
Arc uses permissioned proof-of-authority consensus, where a rotating validator proposes each block and must be agreed upon by more than two-thirds of validators before it is committed. The network will also have a range of day-one apps and services live at launch, with Uniswap already stating that it's 'ready on day one'.
