Circle's Arc Blockchain Secures Network with Major Financial Institutions

Share

Circle has revealed its founding validator cohort for Arc, a Layer 1 blockchain that will secure the network. The list includes BlackRock, Visa, ICE, and DTCC among others. These firms, along with Circle itself, will act as validators to meet trust, security, operational, and compliance standards required of critical financial market infrastructure.

The validator model allows Arc to operate in a permissioned environment, which is in contrast to its open and permissionless architecture. The company has not yet disclosed when or if validator participation opens beyond the named cohort.

Visa's global head of growth product and partnerships, Rubail Birwadker, expressed his excitement about participating as a validator, calling Arc 'the kind of compliant, high-trust network infrastructure needed to help support the growth of onchain payments.'
