Circle's Arc Mainnet Launches with Traditional Giants and EVM Compatibility
Circle's Arc mainnet is set to launch on September 16, featuring an impressive list of genesis validators that includes traditional financial giants like BlackRock and Visa. Unlike many other Layer 1 blockchains, Arc was not designed with the goal of competing in the cryptocurrency market, but rather as a solution for stablecoin payment infrastructure.
The underlying operating system for this pipeline is built by Circle itself, using three key technical features: USDC as the native gas token, sub-second finality, and EVM compatibility with an optional privacy layer. This design aims to provide predictable transaction costs and real-time settlement capabilities, making it suitable for applications like point-of-sale machine payments.
The Arc mainnet will launch with a robust ecosystem of DeFi blue chips, payment giants, and mainstream wallets, including Aave, Uniswap, and Binance Wallet. Circle has allocated 60% of the ARC token's initial total supply to the ecosystem, which is expected to play a crucial role in staking, governance, and network incentives.
