Circle's USDC Sees Steady Growth with 1 Billion Net Circulation Increase
Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has reported a net increase of 1 billion tokens in circulation. This marks steady growth in demand for dollar-pegged digital assets, particularly in decentralized finance (DeFi) and cross-border payments.
The company issued approximately 11.2 billion USDC and redeemed about 10.2 billion USDC, bringing total circulation to 73.7 billion. Reserves backing the stablecoin stand at roughly $74 billion, according to Circle's disclosures.
This growth in supply is a positive signal for the overall market, suggesting that demand for stablecoins remains robust despite regulatory scrutiny in various jurisdictions. Increased USDC circulation can also indicate growing activity in DeFi protocols, where USDC is a primary trading pair and collateral asset.
