Circle's USDC Stablecoin Issuance Surges to $5 Billion in a Week
Circle's USDC stablecoin issuance has surged to $5 billion in a week, marking its largest weekly issuance since early 2026. This significant growth has increased USDC's market cap to about $73.88 billion, reflecting strong institutional interest in on-chain dollar liquidity.
The majority of the minting activity took place on the Solana blockchain, with a single $250 million mint and a $1 billion mint within 24 hours. This rapid increase in minting coincided with Circle becoming the technical provider for Hyperliquid's $5 billion USDC reserve, highlighting growing institutional adoption.
However, net supply growth was moderated by redemptions, so the actual circulating supply increase was less than the gross minting amount. Despite this, the surge in minting activity demonstrates the increasing demand for stablecoins and Circle's growing role in providing on-chain dollar liquidity.
