Circle's USDC Stablecoin Sees 1 Billion Token Circulation Boost
Circle's USDC stablecoin has seen a significant increase in net circulation, rising by 1 billion tokens. This growth reflects continued demand for dollar-pegged digital assets, particularly in decentralized finance (DeFi) and cross-border payments.
The total circulation of USDC now stands at 73.7 billion, with reserves backing the stablecoin amounting to roughly $74 billion. Circle's reserve composition includes cash and short-term U.S. Treasuries, which are audited monthly to ensure they match the circulating supply.
This increase in circulation is a positive signal for the overall market, suggesting that demand for stablecoins remains robust despite regulatory scrutiny in various jurisdictions. The growth of USDC can also indicate growing activity in DeFi protocols, where it serves as a primary trading pair and collateral asset.
