Citadel Advisors Reveals Massive Bullish Positions in XRP ETFs
Ken Griffin's Citadel Advisors has significantly increased its exposure to XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs), indicating a bullish outlook on the cryptocurrency. The $875 billion asset management firm grew its investment portfolio by over $250 billion in Q2, adding a substantial portion to crypto stocks and ETFs.
Citadel revealed massive direct holdings in several US-listed XRP ETFs, including 215,639 shares in REX-Osprey XRP ETF (XRPR) and 54,438 units in Volatility Shares Trust XRP ETF (XRPI). The hedge fund also reported a sharp increase in call positions on multiple XRP ETFs, with the largest jump coming in Volatility Shares' 2x XRP ETF (XRPT), where Citadel's reported call position jumped 764% from Q1 to Q2.
The addition of put positions and cash ETF exits cut in Q2 2026 suggests that Citadel is hedging its bets on XRP. Ripple's push into tokenization, payments, and DeFi infrastructure, as well as the upcoming major XRP Ledger v3.3.0 upgrade, could further boost bullish signals for XRP price.
Other institutional investors have also revealed their exposure to XRP ETFs in Q2, including Goldman Sachs, which returned as the largest XRP ETF holder with $86.50 million in total holdings. US spot XRP ETFs have seen cumulative net inflows near $1.7 billion despite XRP's price decline.
