Citi Makes History with Live Blockchain Transactions on Swift Ledger

Share

Citi has successfully completed live transactions using Swift's blockchain-based ledger, marking the first time a US institution has conducted native-ledger transactions on the system.

The bank described itself as the first US institution to conduct live native-ledger transactions on Swift's blockchain-based ledger.

The transactions included the first transaction processed in the Middle East region with First Abu Dhabi Bank and the first in Southeast Asia with Singapore-based OCBC.

Citi expects to conduct similar transactions with DBS and United Overseas Bank later in September, as part of its focused proof-of-concept phase that runs through December 2026.
