Citi Sets Stage for Institutional Bitcoin Custody by Year-End
Citi has announced its plans to launch institutional digital asset custody later this year, starting with Bitcoin. The service will be part of Citi's Custody+ platform, which brings digital assets and traditional securities into one custody framework.
The bank expects more than 80% of its asset-servicing events to be processed in real-time, thanks to its Single Event Processing technology (SEP). This has already cut processing times for voluntary corporate actions by as much as 92%, with 96% completed in under two hours.
Citi's investment in its Services platform strategy is over $2 billion annually, focused on speed, scale, and availability. The bank aims to eliminate latency and drag for institutional investor clients with the launch of Custody+.
