Civic Tokens Plummet 98.5% as Decentralized Identity Market Awaits
Civic (CVC) is a blockchain project that provides decentralized identity verification tools for users. The platform, which runs on Solana, offers three core products: Civic Pass, Civic Auth, and Civic Nexus. Civic Pass enables on-chain verification, confirming users meet compliance rules before transacting, with over two million users having completed verification through the system.
The project has a market capitalization of around $20.7 million and currently trades at approximately $0.02074 per token. However, this represents a decline of 98.5% from its all-time high of $1.35 in early 2018. Token concentration is also a concern, with the top 10 wallets holding roughly 77% of the total CVC supply.
Civic faces competition from well-funded projects like Worldcoin and Polygon ID, which offer alternative approaches to on-chain identity management. The decentralized identity market is expected to reach $2,561 billion by 2035 at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 90%, according to Precedence Research.
