CLARITY Act Delayed Again as Senate Vote Approaches
The CLARITY Act, a bipartisan US crypto market structure bill, is facing another delay as the Senate's crowded schedule and upcoming midterm elections make passage in 2026 increasingly difficult.
The bill still has a path forward after Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture on the motion to proceed. A cloture vote is scheduled for September 15 at 2:15 p.m. ET, when the Senate returns from recess.
The absence of clear regulatory framework could slow investment and push some crypto businesses overseas, Grayscale said. However, the company expects the SEC and other US regulators to continue developing rules covering institutional custody, banking access, staking, crypto exchange-traded products, and tokenized securities.
