Clarity Act Enters Final Senate Battle Amid Crypto Regulatory Tweaks
The Clarity Act has reached its final stages in the Senate, with Republican lawmakers making concessions to secure bipartisan support ahead of Tuesday's vote. The bill aims to ease regulatory pressure on the crypto market and spur new investment.
Lawmakers tweaked certain provisions over the weekend to address ethics concerns flagged by a section of the Senate, which President Trump has now agreed to. State attorneys general will be allowed to enforce ethics on federal officials, potentially closing out a large part of the ethics concerns.
The changes also include narrower provisions under the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act and a circuit breaker, including capital migration out of traditional banks driven by stablecoin yield. However, many still question the timeline and metric that might be used to restrict rewards if outflows from banks surge.
