CLARITY Act Expands Opportunities for Banks to Invest in Digital Assets
The CLARITY Act has the potential to expand Bitcoin banking services and create new opportunities for jobs in crypto-focused areas such as custody, compliance, trading, and infrastructure. If passed, this legislation would give banks more clarity on how to handle digital assets, making it easier for them to justify investing further.
With the US commercial bank assets reaching approximately $25.66 trillion in July 2026, according to Federal Reserve data, even limited adoption of Bitcoin could have a significant impact. The CLARITY Act is designed to establish a clearer federal market structure for digital assets by defining responsibilities between the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The House version of the legislation gives the CFTC jurisdiction over qualifying digital commodity markets while establishing registration, custody, and customer-protection requirements for companies operating in the sector. This could create new demand for employees with experience across both traditional finance (TradFi) and crypto.
However, it's essential to note that hiring would depend on whether the bill becomes law, how regulators implement it, and how much customer demand develops. The Senate procedural vote is expected on September 15, but this would not send the CLARITY Act directly to the president, further Senate consideration would be required.
