CLARITY Act Faces Crucial Deadline in Senate as Crypto Industry Warns of Brutal Consequences
The CLARITY Act is facing a critical test in the Senate as it approaches the August recess. With just 14 days remaining, lawmakers have limited time to complete the necessary procedural steps required to bring the bill to the Senate floor.
Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital, believes that if the bill reaches the Senate floor, it will pass. He cites political reasons, suggesting that younger Democratic lawmakers may not want to oppose the crypto industry ahead of the November elections, particularly as crypto-focused political action committees continue gaining influence.
However, Scaramucci warns that failing to advance the CLARITY Act could push crypto companies to build outside the United States. He says that industry leaders who have invested significant time and resources into the legislation may eventually decide to move their businesses offshore if regulatory uncertainty continues.
