The US Clarity Act is facing a crucial test on September 15 as the Senate prepares to take its first procedural step on the crypto market-structure legislation. The bill, which aims to establish a clear regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency industry, has faced opposition from various groups due to proposed restrictions and measures addressing illicit finance.

Ripple's Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty said that September 15 will be a key test of whether the bill still has enough support to progress. The motion requires 60 votes, and with a narrowing opportunity to pass, it remains uncertain if the Clarity Act will move forward in Congress.

Alderoty emphasized that even if the bill fails to gain momentum in September, the crypto industry still wants Congress to establish a framework for regulation. He argued that legislation would offer greater durability than rules created solely through regulatory action.
