Clarity Act Faces Uncertain Senate Vote Amid Ethics Disputes

The Clarity Act is facing uncertainty in the Senate ahead of its procedural vote on September 15. Republican senators are warning that the measure may lack the necessary 60 votes to advance, citing unresolved disputes over ethics rules and other parts of the bill.

Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) blamed Democrats for the potential failure of the legislation, saying it's because they didn't join Republicans in embracing a bipartisan bill that protected consumers and cements America's leadership in digital assets.

Lummis argued that Democratic negotiators continued to seek provisions that could let later administrations 'kill the crypto industry,' while she said the remaining differences could still be resolved with further compromise from Democrats, not the White House.
