CLARITY Act Future Uncertain Amid Senate Deliberations

Share

The CLARITY Act, a long-awaited crypto market structure bill, hangs in the balance as the Senate weighs its fate. With just days left before the August recess, the bill's future is uncertain.

Banks and crypto firms are at odds over a crucial provision that bans stablecoin companies from offering yield-like products. Bankers want stricter language to prevent these products from drawing deposits away from traditional banking, while crypto companies argue for fewer restrictions on rewards programs.

According to Todd Phillips, director at the Klaros Group, 'This is still a very contentious, very live issue, and I don't know where it goes from here.'
