CLARITY Act Gains Momentum as Mainstream Firms Back Single National Crypto Standard

Share

Tom Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, is advocating for the CLARITY Act, which he believes will bring much-needed clarity to the US crypto regulatory landscape. Currently, there's no single rulebook governing crypto in the country, and the Act would establish a national body, the CFTC, to oversee it.

Big banks and asset managers want to create stablecoin systems and put real-world assets on the blockchain, but they're hesitant due to the patchwork of conflicting state rules. Lee notes that this is similar to the situation in 1934 when the SEC was created to replace conflicting state regulations.

The CLARITY Act has gained support from mainstream financial firms like Charles Schwab and Franklin Templeton, which are backing a single national standard. Japan, Russia, and Europe are also moving forward with similar rules, and Lee believes this is contributing to the recovery of crypto markets.
