CLARITY Act Hangs in Balance as Senate Republicans Express Doubts
The US Senate's crypto-asset regulation bill, the CLARITY Act, is facing uncertainty ahead of its upcoming vote. Republican senators have expressed concerns that the bill may fail due to differences between the White House and Congress over an ethics provision.
According to Senator Mike Rounds, the bill's outlook 'doesn't look good right now.' This sentiment was echoed by Senator Thom Tillis, who stated that the bill would likely fail if the White House is unwilling to narrow differences over the ethics provision.
The CLARITY Act faces a Senate procedural vote on September 15. If it fails, the crypto industry could potentially back supportive candidates in future Senate and House elections, as suggested by some senators.
