CLARITY Act Nears Passage as Senate Votes Align
The CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at clarifying regulatory guidelines for digital assets in the US, is gaining momentum in the Senate. According to reports, around seven to ten Democrats are now ready to back the bill, which could push the tally to the required 60-vote threshold.
This shift in votes matters, as it moves the math from being stuck at 51 'yes' votes short of the cloture line to being close to passage. The bill seeks to draw a clearer distinction between digital assets treated as commodities versus securities and sort out regulatory responsibilities between the CFTC and SEC.
Market watchers are taking notice, particularly those following tokens that have lived in regulatory gray zones for years, such as XRP. Traders are pricing in a friendlier environment for spot-market frameworks and institutional flows, with a Franklin Templeton-linked spot XRP ETF reportedly pulling in $592,000 in net inflows.
Despite this progress, there is still uncertainty around timing, as Senate leadership controls the calendar and last-minute deal-fraying or reprioritization can always occur. However, this development suggests that Washington's crypto rule-making could land sooner than expected, with implications for liquidity, listings, and institutional appetite across the sector.
